Saltwash Faux Effects Kit

Create layered, weathered texture on furniture and decor with the Saltwash Faux Effects Kit. Mix Saltwash powder into your favorite paint to build a textured base, then add a contrasting paint color and gently sand to reveal the layers. Try finishes inspired by worn wood, sea glass, rust, or verdigris.

What’s in the kit

• One 10 oz can of Saltwash powder
• One quart mixing cup and one stir stick
• Two paint brushes
• One 60-grit sanding sponge

Paint is not included. Choose your own paint colors to suit your project.

How to use Saltwash

1. Pour a small amount of paint into the mixing cup. Add Saltwash powder gradually, stirring until the mixture is thick, roughly like cake icing. Follow the included brochure for mixing guidance and your chosen effect.
2. Brush the mixture onto a clean, properly prepared surface as a textured base coat. For a softer look, lightly brush over the raised texture while it is still tacky.
3. Let the base coat dry, then apply a contrasting coat of paint without Saltwash.
4. When dry, gently sand selected areas with the included sponge to expose the textured color beneath. Remove sanding dust and finish as appropriate for your surface and paint.

Work in small batches until you find the texture you like. Wear eye and respiratory protection when handling the fine powder and when sanding.
